Since leaving the beauty of Khoa Sok it's been a whirl wind! My free and easy group and I headed to Kho Phi Phi a huge party beach island- if you wanna party on the beach and like house music, this place is bumping! It's the island of bikes and cats according to our leaders haha
I unfortunately missed out on most of Kho Phi Phi :( I got super sick on a sunset boat tour and was hoping all it was was motion sickness- turned into a 5 day back and forth shit show :( it's so hard to get back on top once you've hit bottom. Hydration packets were my life saver but I didn't find those until Railay. Being sick with no A/C = hell and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I couldn't even eat
Buuuuuuut I did manage to struggle out of my room long enough to make the hike to the viewpoint at sunset :) GORGEOUS!! The sites here are phenomenal! And I got a BAMBOO TATTOO! Yeeeeah buddy :) it says "Travel" in Thai :) i got it on my wrist and I love love it!!!! :) After that I was dead to the world again
Unfortunately Kho Phi phi beaches were full of garbage :( those are the things about tourism which break my heart. I like to believe this industry is providing jobs and opening eyes of the people of the world( if people are willing) but when I see the destruction we tourists cause it's tough to swallow...
RAILAY!!
Our last island destination with Free and Easy! Probably my favourite island spot. Much less busy with clean and gorgeous beaches- total opposite of Kho Phi Phi
There are no vehicles there just hotels/bungalows, little restaurants and the awesomest thing ever- boat stands!! They aren't allowed to build stands on the beaches so vendors built boats and sell food from the water
We got to hit up a Muay Thai fight!! These guys are fast! The winner ended up at the bar we partied at that night where one of my group members got up close and personal! Only in Thailand!! Again some crazy party nights happened in Railay providing you were feeling up for it! Many peeps got sick in Railey which was tough.
Building memories!!!! :)

Khoa Sok National Park and happy V-day
Wow!! What beautiful places there are in Thailand. The national park was amazing! We stayed on floating bungalows in the middle of no where surrounded by complete beauty. Words can't even explain how amazing this place was. My favourite place so far.
Since we all spent Valentines day together we each drew names and exchanged little Valentines gifts some were hilarious. One girl received a little army kit with a plastic shot gun and grenades. Some people gave each other poems, of course chocolate and then we drew names to be tied to someone for the night. We had a challenge as to who could stay together longest. I was one of the last ones but no Win for me.
We also went on a jungle hike and trekked through some caves. Wow again what an experience. I love the jungles and being surrounded by all the diverse biota and the crazy twisted trees, vines and bamboo shoots. The Thailand jungles are pretty amazing and wickedly enough very few bugs!! I'm loving the lack of bugs in Thailand :) the caves were pitch black! we made out way through with head lamps and of course they were full of bats- kinda creepy but you just had to out the thought out of your mind that you were "trapped" in a cave with bats. Solid 30-45 mins in the caves!
Gah I'm loving the experiences. Unfortunately technology has not been my friend and I have no camera :( my first one broke then the other one charge :( it has been the biggest downer of my trip so far
Anyway it's been HOT HOT HOT! I feel like I haven't acclimated at all and just sweat all day long! We are currently on Kho Phi phi- Beach parties and lots of fun in the sun. We are going on a sunset boat ride tonight! Woot!

Same same but different ;) --> just a little Thailand saying miss you Canada!!

Lets get Extreme!
Yesterday was the best day of the trip so far! First of all the waves around our island have been huge lately. Since we are on a more secluded beach we have to take boats across to the main part of Koh Phangan so we are tackling waves about 8-10 feet high. These Thai boatmen have some talent!! It was a roller coaster ride just to get over to the main island. Then BUNGY!!
Almost my whole group jumped. I did what they call the "Superman" which is like a reverse/ slingshot. They hook you up to the bungy cords and put you in a harness. You start on the ground and then you get shot into the air then free fall until the bungy cord catches you. You reach the top and then you feel like you pause in mid-air and have no idea when you will fall. CRAAAAAZY shit! I would recommend it! Gah! Then we missed our ferry back to the island so we had too wait for the later one and tackle the 10 foot waves in the dark- I can't imagine the talent it took to get up back to our bungalows safely last night.
Then Ocean rock party- so much fun! The group is really coming together now :)
Finally today began with an extreme hike in extreme heat! One of the other girls and I were trying to hike across to the other side of the island so we could book a hostel for the full moon. the path runs through the jungle and its doable but we went the wrong way and ended up two beaches in the opposite direction. After sweating probably every once of water out of my body we made it back to out beach - never again!!
Needless to say the adventure and the crazy experiences have begun!! :):)

Thailand - The Land of Smiles
Hello from Thailand!
First of all the heat is insane! wow my body is struggling to adjust to the heat temp. Bangkok was 35+ during the day - no breezes or ocean waters to cool off. The one day in Bangkok was enough for mwe to get started especially after 2 ful days of travelling. I missed my first connection to Tokyo so I had to spend the night in San Fran. Khoa San Road in Bangkok was pretty cool though you could buy anything from sunnies- to tanks to watches etc! all for a few bucks each - defs good hot spot for shopping!
After a few transfers, a 12 hour night train and a ferry my crew and I made it to Koh Phangan -first island! What a beautiful place it is! We have been passing the time with beaching, volleyball, buckets (booze buckets that is) and beach parties! We defs started the trip off with a bang- then came my first Thailand hangover - imagine your worst hangover times it by 5 and then place yourself in 30+ degree heat - such a rough go! haha
My free and Easy crew is pretty fun so far- there are 21 of us in total and seem to be here for alot of R&R! Big spread of people too, we have some students, a bunch of people working, and a few just outta highsschool! Still warming up to people but we will all get aquainted soon enough!
We have another couple days in Koh Phangan (home of the full moon party which i will be attending later this month with a few remaining travellers from my group) before we head over to Khoa Sok one of the national parks. My leaders say it is one of their favourite places in Thailand.
I am surprisingly missing home a bit and all the wonderful people in my life. you are on my mind often and I send my love!! (L)

Find what makes you come ALIVE
A very special friend once shared this quote with me:
"Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it! Because what the world needs is people who come alive"
I love this quote more than anything because there are so many things in this world that make it an ugly place but also a beautiful place all in the same. There will always be suffering, hunger, injustice and sadness but to balance these negatives we have hope, faith, happiness and compassion. When we find those things in life that make us "come alive" we are sharing and experiencing something beautiful with those around us. I encourage all of you to go and find something that makes you come alive!
When I was a little girl I couldn't even leave home long enough to have a sleepover with a friend without being "homesick". Now we fast forward to today and I am leaving home for 5+ months, living out of a backpack. Isn't it funny how things change? This is something I have talked about since highschool and finally my dream is becoming a reality. I am so unbelieveably fortunate to have this coming opportunity.
Stay tuned for the crazy adventures, emotional struggles and enlightened moments to come - less than 12 hours till I depart for my long trip to Bangkok!
Love
